Bürgergeld Amount in 2025

Starting January 1, 2025, the amount of Bürgergeld (citizen’s income) in Germany will remain at the 2024 level due to stabilized inflation. This social benefit is designed to ensure a minimum standard of living for those who cannot cover their expenses on their own.

Bürgergeld for Ukrainian Refugees in Germany
Ukrainian refugees in Germany receive Bürgergeld at the same level as German citizens. To qualify, they need to register with the Jobcenter. This assistance is available to anyone seeking employment, regardless of whether they are German citizens or Ukrainians under temporary protection.

Bürgergeld Rates in 2025

  • Adults living alone: €563 per month.
  • Adults in partnerships or marriages: €506 per person.
  • Individuals under 25 living with parents: €451.
  • Teenagers aged 14-17: €471.
  • Children aged 6-13: €390.
  • Children under 6 years old: €357.

These payments cover basic needs such as food, clothing, social integration, transportation, and utility expenses. Families with children also receive an additional €20 per month per child until the introduction of Kindergrundsicherung (child basic security).
